's review Laura Mancini

In full transparency of purpose and honesty, Master Ivan Mori presented to the public last night at the cozy setting of the Teatro Le Salette di Borgo, the students of his laboratory in acting, that just two months after their very first approach to the world stage, have faced the hard task to stage two one-acts by Anton Chekhov, "The Bear" and "chorus".

The winning choreography of opening, well designed by the young and expressive Merilisa Stigliano, is followed by a symbolic exchange of masks from the "baptism" with the first characters come to life on stage: The Waitress , Widow and Clementina Armed men in the role of Stephen, feel the importance of their duties and carry on with courage, without being intimidated by the first impact with the public. You hear the work of director the careful construction and characterization of roles is commendable and also the learning level of diction, not so obvious in the contemporary theater in Rome.
You must make notes, inevitably - we hope to help these newly interpreters, that invitation to continue their journey, given the potential - that we perceive the lack of a thorough examination of the author ... ... represented ... ... yet, a sign of lack of experience, the silences are too long and "heavy", which create gaps in the scene rather than an effect of suspense and even the lack of variation in tone ,.... ....
The main difficulty of this Act has met, of course, Clementina, who has had to put a face to a male character that most men (and sometimes male) could not have been, and probably also because of this doubling of the barriers, is not made to fund the irony featuring Stephen and his lines, nor the sudden transformation that shows infatuated widow.
The characters in the second act seem very isolated in their own world, unable to communicate, as often occurs in the works of Chekhov. While The Chorister, a little 'clumsy in the gestures, do not know how to move her hands, but Nina, motionless as a statue, represents well the firmness of their positions and his interpreter Merilisa reveals perhaps the most promising actress of the group, although it is acknowledged that the recitation of the Chorister (Antonina Leccese) to load, slowly, with emotion.
One senses, on the whole, the effort and commitment to bring the drama to a higher level than just "wise" and as close as possible to a real spectacle.
curious fact that the audience of friends and relatives, perhaps composed of non-regular patrons of the theater and too busy having fun to find friends who become actors, reacts, laughing, making jokes and commenting on each element, at personal, trova buffo, magari proprio nei momenti di maggior tensione emotiva…
